Big gains for Republicans in the 2010 mid-term elections.
Republicans have taken control of the House with sixty plus pickups (possibly more pickups to come in close races). In the Senate, Republicans gained six seats. A strong message was sent, but what was it and what will get done about it? In the past few weeks since the election, the politicians have been trying to tell us what we were saying with the vote. Obviously different voters, voted for different reasons. But i think there was a strong clear message from the majority of voters, stop the spending. Washington is not working for we the people. This week was introductions for the new members of congress, they arrived in Washington and attended meetings. Some events raised concerns new members would be immediately courted and possibly corrupted by special interests. Tea party groups launched counter meetings and encouraged new members to attend. We are also wasting no time in the Senate, with an effort lead by Senator Jim DeMint to ban earmarks. This week Republicans voted for a two year moratorium on earmarks. Despite their big lose, Democrats have put Nancy Pelosi back in control as minority leader of the House this week.
